This painting was inspired by ancient Roman etchings and mosaics of horses.  I remember the images impressing me as a child because they seemed to have been created in a such a way as to slightly distort the realism of the subject. As a youngster I could readily identify with such pictures as my own horse drawing skills were developing.

This piece captures the naivety  of those figures created thousands of years ago.
