This piece evolved over a few days, there was only texture to start, I like texture! The layers of paint fill and catch on the ridges and valleys of the medium below. The piece became 'Moon Rising' as soon as I swept the black arc with my brush. Is it a moon rising over the horizon... not of earth, but of another far off planet perhaps. Just an inference, possibly, of rings around this moon, or perhaps it's a passing planet and you are the one standing on a moon? When I paint, I feel... it's more of an instinct and each piece started makes it's own journey into the unknown... only as it forms on the canvas can I put a name to it. That's why I love abstract work. Sometimes we don't know why... we just know.
